Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

Reconnect with Your Inner Self and Heal from Within
At Choice Point Psychological Services we offer Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy. IFS is an evidence-based, empowering approach that helps you understand and harmonize the different “parts” of yourself. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, or just feeling overwhelmed, IFS offers a compassionate path to inner healing and clarity.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy?
IFS is a powerful, non-pathologizing model of psychotherapy developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz. It’s based on the idea that we all have a core Self and a system of inner “parts” that take on different roles to help us cope with life. Some parts may carry pain (exiles), while others try to protect us from further harm (managers or firefighters).
Rather than trying to eliminate parts, IFS helps you:
- Identify and understand the roles your parts are playing
- Develop compassion toward all parts of yourself
- Access your Self—the calm, confident, connected center within you
- Heal wounds carried by parts stuck in past trauma or fear

Who Can Benefit from IFS Therapy?
IFS can be deeply helpful for individuals dealing with:
- Anxiety and depression
- PTSD and complex trauma
- Grief and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Low self-esteem
- Eating disorders
- Addictive behaviors
- Inner criticism or perfectionism
IFS is also ideal for those on a journey of self-discovery, emotional integration, or spiritual growth.
What to Expect in an IFS Session
Your therapist will guide you in gently exploring your inner world. You’ll learn how to “speak” with your parts, understand their concerns, and begin a healing dialogue. Over time, parts that once acted out of fear or pain can transform—releasing old burdens and adopting healthier roles.
Sessions are client-led and paced according to your comfort. You’re always in control of the process.
