ACT THERAPY

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is one type of evidence-based treatment that can improve many common mental health conditions. It is considered a “third-wave” format of CBT that integrates mindfulness as well. The main intention in ACT sessions is to learn and practice lifestyle skills that enhance psychological flexibility in the face of difficulties and stress. This approach involves skills practice in session for maximum benefits.

CBT THERAPY

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a popular type of therapy that also can improve many common mental health conditions. CBT will help you understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Additionally, your therapist will assist you in identifying core beliefs or schemas that are keeping you stuck in certain behavioural patterns. At Choice Point, we integrate mindfulness strategies with CBT to maximize your results.

EMDR THERAPY

EMDR is an evidence-based treatment protocol for the treatment of PTSD that can be used for many other presenting concerns rooted in stress and trauma. EMDR is an experiential and non-talk therapy approach designed to release physical and emotional distress connected to your past experiences. When used effectively, this approach can be used to help to reduce anxiety, stress, and improve views towards self and others.

PROLONGED EXPOSURE THERAPY

Prolonged exposure therapy was created by Dr. Edna Foa. It is an empirically validated treatment with more than 20 years of research supporting its use. This therapy is used to assist clients to process traumatic events and to reduce trauma-related psychological symptoms. It is an experiential approach that when used tactfully it will improve physical, emotional, and cognitive symptoms.

A.R.T. THERAPY

Accelerated Resolution Therapy was developed by Laney Rosenzweig from other evidenced-based approaches such as EMDR. It can be effective in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, complex grief, and more! The process is very straightforward, using relaxing eye movements and a technique called Voluntary Image Replacement to change the way that negative images are stored in the brain.
